Ingredients

  • 1 red cabbage (finely sliced)
  • 1kg apples (small cubes)
  • 1 onion (finely sliced)
  • 1 tbl white vinegar
  • Bay leaf
  • Cinnamon
  • Sugar
  • Butter

Instructions

  1. Place a large casserole over medium heat, add butter and onion, cook for a couple of minutes without browning
  2. Add red cabbage, vinegar and braise with additional water for 30 minutes
  3. Add apples and bay leaf and leave on low heat for 1 to 2 hours until red cabbage is tender
  4. Season with sugar, cinnamon and salt and pepper to taste
