Ingredients
- 60ml milk (lukewarm)
- 20g instant yeast
- 400g AP flour
- 40g vanilla sugar
- 170g butter (softened, cubed)
- 2 eggs
- 150g granulated sugar
- Salt
Instructions
- Mix milk and yeast and rest for 10 minutes (the mixture should become bubbly)
- In the bowl of a stand mixer with the dough hook attached, mix flour, salt and vanilla sugar until well combined
- While leaving the stand mixer on at low-medium speed, add the butter cubes one by one
- While leaving the stand mixer on at low-medium speed, slowly pour in the milk-yeast mixture
- Add the eggs in the stand mixer and knead until the dough is elastic (approx. 5-10 minutes)
- Cover the bowl with foil and rest for 40 minutes in a warm and non-drafty spot
- Mix the granulated sugar with the dough
- Roll the dough in to a tube shape and split in to balls of approx. 75 grams
- Put the balls on a floured sheet of baking paper
- Cover balls with kitchen towel
- Heat waffle iron on highest setting
- Bake balls until golden brown waffles appear
- Let waffles cool on a baking rack
- Optionally cover with power sugar and enjoy!
